Introducing your teacher...
Once upon a time...
My passion and my dream began when working in childcare during my college days. I started out working with children, wanting a job while taking courses for my BSN at Oakland University. I did a couple of days a week. I truly loved floating around the center and getting to know the children and their families. I interacted with ages ranging between infants to school-age. I worked in Rochester, MI for about a half of a year and transferred to Dearborn, MI, where I stayed for eight years.
Here I am, working for one of the big 3 automotive companies and thinking daily where my heart really is. Now don't get me wrong I am extremely thankful for my job. Many times I have talked to people at work about how I used to be a teacher. There truly is nothing like doing what you absolutely and without a doubt love. If that is possible, then go for it! I often say, "I would much rather be working with REAL CHILDREN, than these adult children here in this place!!!"
Being that I talk/text my mom and sister everyday, it's quite clear to them that I want out of my current job and I am ready to make a bigger difference. One day, it just came to my sister. I promise she is so good at this CAREER COACHING thing (www.elishaa.com). She told me I would be great at this and I got so excited! This is how it all really began. This is when I decided I needed to tailor learning sessions based on how a child does on an assessment. These lessons will only be for that child and it will only depend on where they are, not how old they are.
Brilliant Scholars Academy will show our children that together we can build on the brilliance they already have! Your child's teacher, Erika, is ready!
